Interestingly, while the 1927 production focused on cheese & war, the 1930 story switched to chocolate & romance. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strike_Up…

Parlights Presents A “Summer Camp” For Lighting
We’re pretty excited around here about an event we’ve got planned for August. It’s a three-day series of workshops that will cover console programming, LED lighting, and working with gobos & gel. We’ve been wowed by the enthusiastic response to our previous events, and we think this one is going to be the best yet!
The event will run from Wednesday, August 7th, through Friday, August 9th. The 7th & 8th are devoted to console programming, while the sessions on the 9th will cover LED fixtures, color media, and gobos. Each day works as a stand-alone session, so attendees can choose to come every day, or just for the events they’re most interested in.
Seating is limited for all three days, so we’re requiring advance registration. More information about the sessions and registration can be found here: http://staging.parlights.com/summer-camp-2013-is-here/

A New Take on Picking Color
Stage Directions has an interesting article up about choosing color for the stage. While I’ve gotten better at it over the years, selecting color is still one of the toughest parts of any design for me. I often find myself falling back on the old standby of pink or amber front light. The author makes a good case for using clear or blue front light on your actors.
